Thorpe Benefits Congratulates Inaugural Wellness Champions
Awards Recognize Toronto’s Healthiest Business Leaders

Toronto, April 17, 2015 – The winners of the inaugural Wellness Champions awards understand
that achieving personal wellness through work/life balance can positively impact their personal
and professional lives. Wellness Champions are those individuals who have demonstrated a
comprehensive approach to health – incorporating facets of overall mental and physical wellbeing.
“In today’s world where time is more than ever at a premium, these individuals are outstanding
examples of how all of us can—and should– make time for personal wellness,” said Roger
Thorpe, president of Thorpe Benefits.

“Wellness is not just about how many workouts you clock a week,” said Thorpe. “It’s also about
achieving overall happiness by fostering personal relationships and giving our time to others. This
year’s Wellness Champions have hit the mark on achieving this balance and we can all learn
from their example.”

Several key characteristics consistently emerged as the winners were selected. They include a
commitment to establishing and maintaining a balanced life, dedication and discipline of healthy
habits and exercise regimes, honouring personal and professional boundaries while engaging in
activities that fill one’s spirit. Finalists cited the desire to feel energized, healthy and optimally
able to operate at peak performance personally and in their professional roles.

“By integrating personal wellness philosophies into their personal and professional lives, our
champions have made a positive impact on their entire organization and inspired others to follow
their example,” noted Thorpe.

These active corporate leaders also volunteer generously in their community and nurture their
personal relationships with friends and family.
The Wellness Champion award was created to recognize business leaders who are passionate
about healthy living and exemplify these habits in their daily life, translating that into communitywide
inspiration. Through an open nomination process, Thorpe Benefits interviewed more than
50 nominees who then underwent a formal review process.

With an average age of 48.5 and drawn from a variety of diverse industries, the 2015 winners are:

Charlotte De Heinrich – President, The Pheonix Group Inc.
Peter Kofman – President, Projectcore Inc.
Joe Milstone – Co-Founder, Cognition LLP

These top health influencers, selected from a finalist list of 24 nominees, were chosen by a panel
of five respected doctors, nutrition and wellness experts who have advised thousands on how to
improve their minds and bodies to achieve optimal performance. The judges examined healthy
lifestyle habits of nominees that included exercise, nutrition, sleep, social relationships, stress
reduction, community involvement and work/life balance.

The winners were announced at the Wellness Champions Symposium and Awards Luncheon at
the Fairmont Royal York today in Toronto.
